One of Europe's top wind quintets are due to perform at the Shanghai Concert Hall.


SHANGHAI, CHINA, March 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Music lovers using hotels in Shanghai later this year may be planning to attend Intimate Serenades - an evening with the Ensemble Wien-Berlin.

As part of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra's concert season, this acclaimed wind quintet will be performing at the Shanghai Concert Hall on Wednesday May 5th.

With a programme including works by Martinu, Dvorak and Mozart, the evening promises to be memorable occasion for the Chinese city's classical music fans.

The Ensemble Wien-Berlin was founded in 1983 and features highly accomplished soloists from Vienna and Berlin.

Regularly performing with pianist Maurizio Pollini, the quintet have appeared in concert halls around the world and taken part in many international music festivals.

Current members include principal flautist of the Vienna Philharmonic Wolfgang Schulz and oboist Hansjorg Schellenberger, founder and director of the Haydn-Ensemble Berlin.

Tickets for Intimate Serenades are due to go on sale soon and will range in price from 50 yuan to 380 yuan (GBP4.80 to GBP37).

Founded in 1930, the Shanghai Concert Hall recently reopened after being relocated by approximately 60 metres as part of redevelopment plans in the city.

The venue is located in the Huangpu district and can hold over 1,200 people.
